Objective:
Livestock Loss Compensation Scheme has been under implementation since 14-08-2019 wherein, compensation shall be paid to the farmers, in case of mortality of Cattle / Buffaloes and Sheep / Goat in the State vide G.O.Ms.No.22 of AHDD&F (AHI) Dept dated 14-08-2019
Salient Features:
In the event of death of Cattle / Buffaloes, the compensation of Rs.30,000/-
per head for improved & indigenous breed and Rs.15,000/- per head for Non Descript breed shall be paid to the farmers.
In the event of death of Sheep / Goat, the compensation of Rs. 6,000/-per Sheep/Goat (6 months and above age) shall be payable in the event of death of 3 and above Sheep / Goat at a time, irrespective of sex of the animal to the Sheep/Goat rearers /owners.
Coverage of Animals:
The below mentioned categories of animals belonging to all categories of Livestock owners including big farmers will come under the purview of the scheme.
Productive cattle – calved once and in the age group of 2 -10 yrs
Productive buffaloes – calved once and in the age group of 3 -12 yrs
Age shall be decided based on dentition by the veterinarian of the concerned Jurisdiction.
Scope of Compensation:
The Cattle/Buffalo farmers shall be compensated only for 5 animals per family per annum.
The Sheep/Goat farmers shall be compensated with a limit of Rs. 1,20,000/- per family per annum
Procedure for payment of compensation:
- The death intimation by the farmer or his representative either to the integrated call centre Toll free Number:155251 or at RBK.
- Inspection of carcass by VAS/AD(AH) concerned
- Carcass disposal in the presence of Animal Husbandry Assistant/Department staff with documentation
- Conducting of Post-Mortem is mandatory in case of Cows/ she Buffaloes
- Conducting of Post-Mortem is optional in case of Sheep/Goat
- Panchanama/ Committee Report about the confirmation of death and ownership of the animal is mandatory when Ear tag is lost/ available at the time of death of animal with the authorization of designated members.
